Advice on replacing your Chicago furnace

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

All Temp knows furnaces. Chicago has turned to All Temp for products, service and advice since 1938. Here’s what they have to say about furnaces…

Replacing your aging Chicago furnace with a new, efficient model will reduce your monthly energy prices, run cleaner, and increase home comfort by producing a more steady flow of heat. Also make sure you get the right size furnace for your home. A furnace that is too large will cycle on and off more frequently, creating unnecessary wear and tear on its components, as well as wasting energy. At All Temp, we make sure to sell and install the correct size furnace, calculating your heating needs. Often this means surveying your house, its size, the locations of rooms where you eat, sleep and congregate. Gas is the most common heating fuel used by Chicago homes and those who live in Chicago’s suburbs, and most central-heating systems operate on gas. To best understand the concept of “high efficiency,” you need to know that efficiently is calculated how a furnace converts gas into heating energy, which is expressed as AFUE—an annual fuel-utilization-efficiency rating. The higher the AFUE percentage (number), the more heat is generated from each therm of gas.
A gas furnace from the early 1970s might have an AFUE of about 65 percent. Today, the absolute lowest efficiency allowed by law for new gas furnaces is 78 percent, which shows you how far heating technology has come. Certain new models today achieve 97 percent—near-total efficiency.

All Temp Chicagoland Heating and Air Conditioning not only helps homeowners select the proper equipment for their dwelling, but also offers numerous, money-saving advantages. As one of the largest Bryant dealerships in the country, All Temp has tremendous buying power, and passes savings on to the customer. Even more important, All Temp stands behind its products and services, and offers industry-leading manufacturer warranties.

The AccuWeather.com Long-Range Forecasting Team has Chicago right in the middle of where the worst of winter 2011-2012′s snow and cold is expected to be.
“Last winter was nasty in Chicago. This winter could be just as bad,” warned AccuWeather.com Expert Long-Range Meteorologist Bob Smerbeck. This will make it the fifth winter in a row with snowfall well above normal and temperatures well below average for the city. The last time there were this many back-to-back winters with snowfall well above normal was in the 1970s.

All Temp. The “official” comfort company of Earth

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

It seems that every company these days, especially the big car companies, shoe companies, drink companies, claim to be the “official” __________ company for this sport, or team, or whatever. And they pay big bucks to advertise that relationship, which really doesn’t exist. So we’ve decided to stake our claim as the “official” air conditioning and heating company of Earth. If someone wants to dispute our claim, try. After all, All Temp is one of the country’s oldest HVAC companies. We’re one of the largest Bryant dealers in North America. And we do provide our services to Earthlings. All of this is quite official. We have the fleet of service trucks and a giant warehouse to prove it. We also sell Bryant equipment at the most competitive prices on Earth, although we don’t know about that HVAC company in Sweden. But then you would have to pay for shipping. Of course, when you are in the market for air conditioning or a new furnace, you really don’t care that we’re the “official” company for all Earthlings; you only care about your home in Chicago, or Naperville, or Northbrook or Oak Park–you get the idea. And that’s where All Temp shines. We’ve been servicing the Chicago and suburban area since 1938. Our reputation for great products and services at a fair price is our best advertising. And we stand by everything we do for our customers. So if you are currently a homeowner on Earth, (and you have an I.D. to prove it) please call us and we’ll give you a special sale price on a Bryant Furnace, a Bryant Air Conditioner, a combo of both…or we’ll tune up your equipment (whatever brand or model you own) so you’re comfy for the season ahead, for only $89.95…a savings of $40.

659,568,000 HOURS ON THE JOB. All Temp’s HVAC Experience Serving Chicagoland

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

When Walter Mehrholz, founder of All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning Company, first opened his HVAC business back in 1938, most Chicagoans could not imagine a future of year ’round ideal indoor comfort. But here we are, 73 years later, enjoying the most advanced air conditioning to keep us cool during hot Chicago summers, and high-efficient furnaces to keep us warm and toasty when the icy Chicago winter winds blow.

Today, All Temp is Chicagoland’s most trusted company for residential indoor comfort equipment and service, and the largest, leading Bryant dealership in the country. From Evanston to Naperville, Chicago’s south suburbs to the North Shore, All Temp’s reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction continues to grow… by the hour. With more than 659,000,000 hours on the job, few Chicago companies can claim more experience. All Temp’s highly trained technicians have solved thousands of equipment problems—repaired thousands of furnaces and air conditioners–sold and installed a multitude of comfort equipment to keep Chicagoans in their comfort zone. The service, technology and savings behind the Bryant products they sell makes All Temp the #1 choice for home comfort quality.

Yet, some things have not changed in 73 years. The company is still a family-run business, today spearheaded by Walter’s grandson, Robbie Mehrholz. And the company still offers free in-home estimates and stands behind every single sale and service they provide to Chicagoans. For more information, and current sale prices on air conditioners, call 1-800-All-Temp.

It’s UNCOOL to fix a failing Air Conditioner

Monday, June 6th, 2011

If you own an older a/c in Chicago, let’s say 10 years old or older, you might consider replacing your Chicago Air Conditioner rather than repairing it. Why? Money… cooling performance…and today’s equipment is built to last. Sure, you might be able to squeeze more time from your older model a/c, but current high-efficiency air conditioning models, like those made by Bryant, use less energy—saving significant dollars on your monthly utility bills. They are also made better, are quieter, and do a better job cooling your home. Older models use Freon— so harmful to the environment, a/c makers are banned to use it in the manufacturing of new models. Bryant uses Puron—it’s better, safer and cheaper. Need more reasons to think new? Chicagoland HVAC companies such as All Temp offer significant discounts off the MSRP on almost all models. Plus, the air conditioners and other comfort equipment All Temp sells are backed by industry-leading factory warranties. (Never trust a dealer warranty—factory warranties are what matters.) The point is, it’s almost always a smarter decision to buy a new a/c to cool your Chicago home rather than repair, repair, repair an older model. For more information on top performing a/c models, their cost savings, their differences, and performance, contact All Temp at 1-800-All-Temp. P.S. Annual maintenance will squeeze valuable years of factory warranty and performance from your air conditioning system. Cool!

Improve your sleeping and dreaming…thanks to All Temp

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

It’s true. As experts in home comfort, All Temp knows that the temperature of your bedroom affects how well (and how quickly) you snooze, and how much you dream. When you go to sleep, your brain acts like a thermostat, seeking its set point.
A cooler room, rather that a warm room, generally promotes sleep, though each body has its own comfort level. Identifying your brain’s comfort level means finding the right sleeping temperature for you. The right temperature also affects the quality of REM sleep, which is the dreaming phase of your sleep.
In Chicago, with it’s cold winters and warm summers, typically it is recommended to keep the room between 65 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit–the cooler range in the winter and the warmer range in the winter–to conserve energy and minimize your bills. You will want to experiment a bit, and you might have to compromise, depending upon the “set point” of your bed partner.
All Temp furnaces and air conditioning systems with a smart thermostats will help you set your sleep temperature automatically, and reduce your energy bills. Keep an eye on your home’s humidity level too, and adjust it accordingly. Experts in sleep suggest the “bat” approach to sleeping comfort. Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark and quiet. It works for bats who sleep an average of 16 hours a day. However, we do not suggest you hang upside down from the ceiling.
For information on the Chicago’s newest and most efficient home heating and cooling systems, as well as smart thermostats, humidifiers and air filters, contact All Temp Heating and Air Conditioning. And to all…a good night.

Don’t sweat it. All Temp to the rescue.

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

If you live in Chicago, no one needs to tell you that the months of April and May 2011 were stupid cold and terminally wet. That big yellow ball in the sky was m.i.a. Once again, we were Spring-less in Chicago. But we can promise you, as quick as a wink, everyone will be turning on the a/c, and many will be wondering why its not cooling their home. Or why it’s making that funny noise. And as they sweat, they’ll wonder, does this mean a big repair? That, of course, causes more sweating.

Hopefully, your a/c system doesn’t need an expensive repair, just a professional “Clean & Check.” But the longer you wait to perform this service, the better the chances that something may need repair. Here’s some simple, helpful, money saving advice. Before the sun gets blazing hot… before the funny noises begin…before everyone and their brother starts to panic because summer has arrived but their a/c isn’t working… call All Temp. Our Season Special on a “Clean & Check” is only $89.95 (reg $129.95). This a/c offer is good Chicago air conditioners and Suburban a/c systems. And it comes with a “no breakdown” guarantee. Call 1-800-All-Temp to schedule a convenient service appointment.

Chicago homeowners lower utility bills with energy efficient air conditioners

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Utility costs continue to climb in Chicago and the Chicagoland suburbs. Interested in saving up to 40% on monthly cooling costs? All Temp, one of Chicagoland’s oldest, most trusted home comfort companies, offers a variety of leading Bryant air conditioners that provide high tech, high efficiency operation for years of trouble-free and cost effective ways to cool your home.
All Temp has been retrofitting homes in Chicago with energy-efficient central A/C systems for years. In fact, Walter Mehrholz who founded All Temp in 1938 was the original Bryant dealer in Chicago. The company continues to operate as a family-owned company today, headed by Walter’s grandson, Robbie Mehrholz.
Today’s new A/C systems are extremely more advanced than those of the past. They are hybrids, out performing older air conditioning models. They produce more cooling more efficiently, are quieter, and they last longer. Those with higher SEERs and newer coolants are recognized by Uncle Sam as better for your home and the environment. Tax credits are often available, which save you big bucks, so have your All Temp representative update you on recognized hi-eff models and what funds might be available.

Of course, buying the proper system for your home is only as good as the people who are performing the installation. In addition to helping you select the right size system for your home, All Temp makes sure your existing duct work is tested and sealed. It has been found that a home can lose 10%-30% of heated or cooled air through leaky ducts.
All Temp may also save you money by educating and providing you with any available rebates and tax credits for the purchase of energy-efficient air conditioning and heating equipment. Again, ask All Temp what funds and programs, if any, are currently available. All Temp’s service tech will also provide you with helpful hints to keep you’re A/C system humming at peak performance. Changing filters should be performed on a regular basis. Cleaning the outdoor unit is important too. Grass cuttings, leaves and cottonwood materials can cling to your unit and reduce its capacity to cool your home effectively. Also a system refrigerant check-up should be performed during annual inspections, or if your home’s cooling seems to be underperforming. Annual clean and check service calls also keep the manufacturer’s warranty intact. For more information, call All Temp at 1-800-All-Temp.
