Today we are back with more Evolution system information as promised in the last of this series. Remember Evolution is a control system that works with Bryant Evolution Furnaces and Air Conditioners only. The user interface device replaces a common thermostat and does so much more. Please read the previous post dedicatied to the basics that covers this topic in great detail.

All Temp when they install your new Evolution heating and air conditioning system can also add a System Access Module (you could add it to your existing system also). This Module is wired directly to the furnace and interface device and communicates with the outside world via the internet or phone connection. A subscription to Skytel allows you to log on to your system and do any of the following. First you can set the system mode for either heating, cooling or auto changover. Change the heating temperature or cooling temperature and set the hold time for that changed temperature as well. There are 4 fan speeds or modes to set remotely if you wish. When you add the optional zoning system you can also set the temperature for each room or zone remotely - more on that fantastic feature in the next installment of this series.

When you want to reset the program for times and temperature changes that’s also available remotely. Program each day or all days of the week independently while you are on vacation or out of town on business. Vacation settings are also system mode as before, Heat and Cool Temperature settings, Fan speed changes and both the start and end date and times. That’s correct if you need to return home early or are able to stay a little longer than expected when you left just change those setting from a local Starbucks while you enjoy a latte. All this is part of the new heating and cooling technologies available from Bryant and All Temp Chicagoland Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.

We’re back to talk about the Evolution control system for Bryant Evolution Heating & Cooling systems. It is really revolutionary therefore the name. The Evolution control is amazing in what it can do for you and your comfort. This control system is the industries most complete comfort system interface. My favorite feature is auto change over from heating to cooling and vise versa. In my family we have a member who has a chronic illness. When the temperature or humidity swing outside a 3 degree and/or a 10% range she is intolerably uncomfortable. Constant purification of the air is a necessity as well (more on that in another post). There are those May and September days when overnight it’s cool and during the day it’s hot. My Evolution control keeps the temperature within a 2 degree difference without the need of being changed from Heat to Cool - it’s automatic!

I recall an early September night when the temperature was mild but it was very humid. That night the Air Conditioner ran with the furnace blower on its lowest setting, very very slow, which removes the humidity without lowering the temperature. When the Air Conditioner runs on a standard system it will cool rather than dehumidify leaving you cold and clamy. That’s a very uncomfortable feeling wouldn’t you agree?

Here is a list of all the things in a system the Evolution control will manage and control: temperature, humidity, dehumidification, ventilation and indoor air quality all from one central location. Naturally it is fully programable but it is easy to program. It kind of looks like a PDA and is shaped like one with a screen that is large and backlit. The temperature display is the largest in the industry and easy to see from across a very large room. That screen has on screen prompts for programing and adjusting the Evolution control with just a few buttons. It really is very intuitive and easy to use and understand. That’s called user friendly right? Being able to program this control gives you the ultimate in energy efficiency and comfort. You can run a different program for each of the 7 days of the week. So it follows your schedule and lifestyle both. When you’re away it’s easy to set the vacation mode and tell the Evolution control when you will return. It keeps both the heating and cooling at reasonably low settings so it saves energy for you while you are away. Bryant says this feature alone can save you as much as 30% on your fuel bills.

Another great feature is the Evolution controls ability to control the fan speed on your Evolution Heating & Cooling System. There are three speeds plus auto to choose from. In my home we use Med speed continuous fan so that the air purification system cleans all the air in our home 3 times every hour. That’s right it cleanses all the air in our home 72 times every day. You can’t even hear it running while its smoothly giving us complete comfort and truly clean air. It makes an environment that’s better for my health too. Additional devices it manages for you are notices to change filters, humidifier water panels and UV Lamps. I love it - great idea Bryant!

This Evolution control is really a user interface device as all the brains are built into the control board on the Evolution furnace or fan/coil like your computer. Because of this you can install the Evolution control in any existing home that has standard 4 wire thermostat wire (that’s just about anywhere). Think of it as a periferal for your furnace like the screen and keyboard are with your computer. The 4 wire is just a serial interface so installation by All Temp is really easy and the cost is very low.

With the Evolution control there are pop up messages reminding you to change filters or other accessories. The air filter change notice uses a unique way of deciding when to notify you. Instead of being a timed message like other not so similar controls it has the furnace measure the static pressure drop across the filter so you change the filter when it’s loaded not just a regular time. That saves on unnecessary changes of filters that haven’t been used long enought yet.

That’s right in April this year I replaced my older high efficient furnace with the world’s best furnace a Bryant Model 355CAV. Gary and Gary from All Temp installed the new furnace in only about 5 hours and they did a beautiful job. They cleaned up after themselves and were respectful of my home while taking the old furnace out and bringing in the new one. We had a high efficient furnace before the kind that vents  with plastic plumbing pipe thru the side wall of the house. So we are already familiar with how much gas a furnace like this can save. The heat generated by a high efficient furnace is gentler than that of the old style furnaces. It brings the heat over a longer period of time so it evens out the hot and cold cycles we had with the old furnace. All Temp’s price was competitive but the best part is this new furnace qualifies for a $1500 tax credit (that’s not a deduction but a full $1500 back from Uncle Sam to help with my purchase) and Peoples Gas has a $450 rebate too as long as you buy by 1/15/10. That’s a total of $1950 off the world’s best furnace the All Temp Bryant 355CAV.

Now that we have a newer Bryant 355CAV high efficient furnace installed that overall comfort in the home is even better. The furnace has 3 stage heat capability. When All Temp properly sizes the furnace for your home as they did for mine the furnace will run more than 83% of the time on it’s lowest stage using very little fuel as it heats my home. When the outdoor temperatures fall my furnace automatically shifts into the 2nd stage delivering just the right amount of heat. Finally the 3rd stage is reserved for only the coldest weather and should represent only 7% or less of the furnace run time all season. It seems to me that the technology in my new furnace is really very simple. It knows when to do what based on the outside temperature without the use of expensive multi stage controls. Then there is the increased comfort through out the whole house in both heating and air conditioning that is provided by the DC direct drive variable speed blower motor. My new furnace is sooooo quite that sometimes I don’t realize it is running. That’s because it runs on the lowest setting up to 83% of the time. The blower speed is controlled by the furnace as it moves from one stage of heating to another. That new DC variable speed blower motor is so efficient (like a 30 watt light bulb) it allows me to run the blower all the time so the air in my home is cleaned continuously with the EZ Flex filter that came free with my All Temp Bryant 355CAV furnace.

Your new humidifer now has an outdoor sensor to allow you to set your level of humidity and it will maintain that level without you constantly adjusing the dial. That equals more comfort and convenience.

Gas modulating boilers adjust the amount of heat required to heat the space comfortably depending on the outside temperature and the thermostat setting. Some of these boilers qualify for the Obama simulus package tax credits of up to $1500. They will reduce your gas bills by over 30% depending on your current system allowing you to go green!
