When Walter Mehrholz first started his heating service company in Chicago back in 1938, he would have be amazed how his company–All Temp–would grow into one of the most respected HVAC companies in the country. Even more amazing is the fact that his grandson, Robbie Mehrholz, would stand at the helm and forward Walter’s dream–which was never to be the biggest, but only the best. Today All Temp Chicagoland Heating and Air Conditioning Company can brag a bit about both. The company is the largest Bryant dealer in the midwest, and Robbie Mehrholz’s philosophy of “always do right by the customer,” permeates throughout his business. Today the company has dozens of service vehicles throughout the Chicagoland area, and has establish a loyal base of residential heating and cooling customers from Chicago’s southside to the North Shore, from Evanston to Naperville. From their corporate offices on Montrose, just off the Edens, each day starts anew as the phones begin to ring. Calls for a new furnace, calls for air conditioning repair, calls for humidifiers, even air duct cleaning set the service trucks into motion. All Temp service technicians must pass a HVAC certified program to work at All Temp, with ongoing training for their employees to keep up with the new changing HVAC technology. All Temp offers their customers other reasons to be loyal. Prices! As a leading Bryant dealer, All Temp has enormous buying power so they can offer their residential customers the “All Temp Best Buy Guarantee.” Seventy-Five years in business is testimony that All Temp has done many things right, and will continue to do so. It is true that a high-efficiency air conditioner will cost more than a non-high-efficiency model, but you will see the money-saving payoff in lower energy bills month after month. Ultimately, the monthly savings and additional energy-saving performance and features are well worth the initial investment. For those of us living throughout the Chicago area where we experience high electricity rates and long, hot seasons requiring constant air conditioning usage, the smart money is on Hi-eff models. Most models, including brands like Bryant, are two-stage units, which cool efficiently with less on/off cycling. In addition, new Bryant Air Conditioners use Puron, a more environmentally friendly coolant than Freon, which is not used in the manufacturing of newer models. Freon is also quite expensive. All Temp offers a wide selection of Bryant High-efficiency models, and an All Temp representative can help you decide which model is the best for your home property. This is usually determined by the square-foot size of your home as well as its layout. All Temp offers a free evaluation and estimate when you call 1-800-All-Temp. All Temp is one of the country’s oldest and largest Bryant dealerships and often will be considerably more cost effective due to their large purchasing power. The company was founded in 1938, and is family-owned and operated by the 3rd generation.

It seems that every company these days, especially the big car companies, shoe companies, drink companies, claim to be the “official” __________ company for this sport, or team, or whatever. And they pay big bucks to advertise that relationship, which really doesn’t exist. So we’ve decided to stake our claim as the “official” air conditioning and heating company of Earth. If someone wants to dispute our claim, try. After all, All Temp is one of the country’s oldest HVAC companies. We’re one of the largest Bryant dealers in North America. And we do provide our services to Earthlings. All of this is quite official. We have the fleet of service trucks and a giant warehouse to prove it. We also sell Bryant equipment at the most competitive prices on Earth, although we don’t know about that HVAC company in Sweden. But then you would have to pay for shipping. Of course, when you are in the market for air conditioning or a new furnace, you really don’t care that we’re the “official” company for all Earthlings; you only care about your home in Chicago, or Naperville, or Northbrook or Oak Park–you get the idea. And that’s where All Temp shines. We’ve been servicing the Chicago and suburban area since 1938. Our reputation for great products and services at a fair price is our best advertising. And we stand by everything we do for our customers. So if you are currently a homeowner on Earth, (and you have an I.D. to prove it) please call us and we’ll give you a special sale price on a Bryant Furnace, a Bryant Air Conditioner, a combo of both…or we’ll tune up your equipment (whatever brand or model you own) so you’re comfy for the season ahead, for only $89.95…a savings of $40.

Utility costs continue to climb in Chicago and the Chicagoland suburbs. Interested in saving up to 40% on monthly cooling costs? All Temp, one of Chicagoland’s oldest, most trusted home comfort companies, offers a variety of leading Bryant air conditioners that provide high tech, high efficiency operation for years of trouble-free and cost effective ways to cool your home.
All Temp has been retrofitting homes in Chicago with energy-efficient central A/C systems for years. In fact, Walter Mehrholz who founded All Temp in 1938 was the original Bryant dealer in Chicago. The company continues to operate as a family-owned company today, headed by Walter’s grandson, Robbie Mehrholz.
Today’s new A/C systems are extremely more advanced than those of the past. They are hybrids, out performing older air conditioning models. They produce more cooling more efficiently, are quieter, and they last longer. Those with higher SEERs and newer coolants are recognized by Uncle Sam as better for your home and the environment. Tax credits are often available, which save you big bucks, so have your All Temp representative update you on recognized hi-eff models and what funds might be available.
Of course, buying the proper system for your home is only as good as the people who are performing the installation. In addition to helping you select the right size system for your home, All Temp makes sure your existing duct work is tested and sealed. It has been found that a home can lose 10%-30% of heated or cooled air through leaky ducts.
All Temp may also save you money by educating and providing you with any available rebates and tax credits for the purchase of energy-efficient air conditioning and heating equipment. Again, ask All Temp what funds and programs, if any, are currently available. All Temp’s service tech will also provide you with helpful hints to keep you’re A/C system humming at peak performance. Changing filters should be performed on a regular basis. Cleaning the outdoor unit is important too. Grass cuttings, leaves and cottonwood materials can cling to your unit and reduce its capacity to cool your home effectively. Also a system refrigerant check-up should be performed during annual inspections, or if your home’s cooling seems to be underperforming. Annual clean and check service calls also keep the manufacturer’s warranty intact. For more information, call All Temp at 1-800-All-Temp.

I own an older home in Oak Park that probably still had the original gas furnace and no central air. Last summer I decided it was finally time that I do some research and get some quotes for replacing the old furnace and have AC installed at the same time.
Built in 1912, there were no existing cold air returns from the second floor and so I knew that cooling was going to be a challenge. Out of all of the estimators that I met with, Matthew Geisel (All Temp), was by far the most professional and creative in his approach. His knowledge and experience was evident as we walked around the house, where he immediately came up with clever ideas to resolve the inherent issues of the older home–in a creative and space efficient manner. In reviewing his quote, Matthew immediately gained my trust and respect with his detailed and honest approach.
Matthew coordinated the installation, assuring me that he would assign the best installers for the job. Danny and Sam, were terrific throughout the process, both with the new installation and the removal of all of the old equipment. Again their experience was very evident as they installed the new ductwork, keeping me involved at every stage. They completed the installation within the schedule and under difficult conditions (the height of summer with high temperatures and humidity). They were respectful to the fact that I work from home and cleaned up as they worked. I could not be happier with the entire installation process.
In summary ALL TEMP was not the cheapest quote I received, but I am so genuinely happy with the end-results. Having now gone through both the tail end of summer and winter I can report that that the system as installed has performed well beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend Matthew and his All Temp team to anyone.

Hopefully your home furnace kept your home warm and comfy this past Chicago winter. Now it’s time to make sure your Air Conditioner will keep you cool this Summer and for the decade ahead.
If you’re A/C is relatively new, don’t skip its annual tune-up. It keeps your equipment operating at peak performance plus most manufacturers require annual maintenance to keep your warranty intact. 1-800-All-Temp offers this service and you’ll save $40 off the $129.95 price. (Only $89.95).
If it’s time to replace your older Air Conditioner, you’ll want a high efficiency model, like those available with the Bryant name. You will save on energy expenses and when the summer heat is at its worst, you’ll want the most reliable cooling comfort possible. The best ones are ultra quiet and operate on minimal electricity. They are long-lasting and low in service needs.
Selecting the right size Air Conditioner for your home is important, and an All Temp Service Tech will help you, taking in account the square feet of your home, the rooms you frequently use, your personal comfort needs, and other factors. Neither an undersized or oversized system is good for your home.
Today’s air conditioner makers are required by law to rate their equipment according to its energy efficiency. This rating is known as a SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the equipment. All Temp has Bryant High Efficiency models with a SEER of 14.00, which is among the highest available. High SEER models are more expensive, but reduce your home energy bills over the long run.
The smartest decision you will likely make is selecting an experienced dependable contractor that has been serving your community. All Temp (.com) has been cooling Chicago homes with Air Conditioning since 1938. They have an expanded fleet of service vehicles in the neighborhood and are highly recommended. They feature Bryant equipment and a well-stocked inventory of various models, always offered at the guaranteed best price. They also offer a Free in-home estimate. If you are interested in new equipment or giving your current Air Conditioner its annual physical, call 1-800-All-Temp.

How does a SEER rating impact your decision when buying an air conditioner in Chicago?
All central air conditioning systems have a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating that is regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy. Currently, no air conditioning system can have a SEER rating lower than 13. In Chicago, air conditioning systems can range anywhere from 13 SEER to 20 SEER.
Let’s take the mystery out of this whole SEER thing by comparing it to something we all can understand; miles per gallon. Think of higher SEER ratings as higher MPG in your car. Some cars get 10 miles per gallon and others can get 30 miles per gallon and more. Most consumers would choose the higher MPG as it going to end up saving them more money over time even though it may cost a little more money in the beginning.
Purchasing a new air conditioning system with a higher SEER rating can also create a significant savings on your monthly electric bill particularly here in the Chicago area where our energy rates are fairly high.
Most air conditioning systems installed in the Chicago area prior to 1995 are 8 SEER or lower. The installation of a system with the minimum (currently) of 13 SEER will reduce your energy consumption by approximately 38%. That can make a huge difference on your electric bill especially in Chicago where we pay some of the highest rates in the country.
In general, Chicago air conditioning systems do not operate as much as in other parts of the country where the climate is warmer. According to ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers), Chicago air conditioners operate an average of 800 hours per year. Last summer (2010) most of the air conditioning installations we provided to our customers were fairly evenly divided between 13 and 16 SEER.
What is the difference between 13 SEER and 16 SEER? As mentioned earlier, a typical 13 SEER air conditioner installation will improve efficiency by approximately 38% and that is significant even in Chicago where our usage is not as great as other parts of the country. That said, a 16 SEER air conditioner installation can improve efficiency by up to 50% over typical older 8 SEER systems found in the Chicago area.
So if you are planning on having an air conditioning estimate remember to factor in the cost savings of a unit with a higher SEER rating. While you may spend a little more money up front for a high efficiency air conditioner, you will more than likely make up and even exceed the extra cost in just a few short years.

Okay, maybe you’ve been putting off buying a new high-efficiency furnace because, well, the old one hasn’t pooped out yet. But it might be time to rethink that plan, especially since, if your old furnace is 6 to 10 years old, it’s an energy-guzzler, and the money it’s costing you to heat your home is costing you oodles more than a new HI-EF MODEL. Plus, if you need another incentive, the word is out: Uncle Sam’s $2500 Tax Credit may be history. Now that you’re armed with a few facts, here’s another one–A BIG ONE–that will really save you money. Buy your new furnace now through September before the Chicago cold snap. Manufacturers like Bryant (one of the best brand you can buy), is already shipping their newest models
to companies like All Temp. And they want to keep shipping and selling furnaces throughout the year. So to get the pipeline moving, dealerships like All Temp offer big savings if you buy pre-season. Lots of bonus stuff too. Plus, you get incredible attention to detail because their phone isn’t ringing off the hook from people who are freezing their January assets off. You do remember what Chicago is like in January, don’t you? Best of all, it doesn’t cost you a penny to get an in-home estimate. Yes, it’s free! So don’t put off saving today what you will be spending tomorrow. For more helpful, money-saving tips, call 1-800-All-Temp.
